Thursday Evening Flying

Who would have guessed that Thursday evening would be absolutely perfect flying weather despite the forecast? The wind was calm and the sun shining with dramatic thunderheads to the north as a backdrop. The grass was freshly-cut, making for a perfect runway- thanks to everyone that signed up for mowing duties!

If you have flown at SMAC since the runway realignment, you may have noticed the pits along the old flight line. Those were filled Thursday by Dave, Chad, and Rick B., so no more worries about dropping a wheel in a hole.

Remember to check the event calendar for new upcoming events at SMAC and other local clubs.

Speaking of events, charge your batteries and prep your planes for the weekly Saturday morning flying. See you at the field!

Here are some photo highlights from our evening of flying- enjoy.

Dusting run over the field.

This Micro MiG 15 flew surprisingly well due to expert piloting.
Maiden flight for this Dynam PT-17 Stearman. It flies wonderfully.

Chad cruises his Ultimate biplane around the pattern. Check out the thunderheads in the background.

Flight prep. The Valiant is a great flying model.

Dave's twin has custom-made gear that handles the grass well.

Rick keeps track of the Corsair that is silhouetted against the blue sky. It's hard to make out which way the model is banked because of its dark color.

The end of another crop dusting run. Wait, do crop dusters usually fly inverted?

The crew patching up the old flight line holes. Thanks guys.
