FAA Required Certification for UAS Pilots

 

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has finally posted The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) that all UAS pilots must successfully complete. SMAC members MUST complete this test to fly  aircraft at our Community Based Organization (CBO) field. 

The test is not difficult, as it covers much of what we already follow as AMA-certified pilots. You can access the online test by clicking on the link below:

Allow yourself 15-20 minutes to complete the test. Don't worry if you miss questions; the test allows you to repeat questions until you get the answers correct. You can download your certificate of completion at the end of the test, and either print it out or have it on your mobile device. 

According to the law, you must be registered with FAA, have your registration number displayed on the outside of your aircraft, and present your TRUST certificate when requested by law enforcement.
