It's Time to Fly!

Summer is in full swing!

[Okay, I don't know what that means, and it seems odd when you think about it, but it's a colloquialism I'm going to use!]

Um- yeah. Starting over. Hey! What a great week of flying folks. We finally had a week of decent weather and not much of the Canadian wildfire haze.  The field was busy throughout the week, with regular flights by the frequent flyers of the club.

SMAC would love to give a shout out (another colloquialism!) to the guys that volunteer to mow our field.  Thanks for your dedication to the club!

Helicopters, giant scale gassers, small scale electrics-- we've had the entire gamut at the field this week. SMAC members fly all kinds of models- big, small, handmade, or manufactured, it doesn't matter- we are about having a good time!

If you are looking for a safe, friendly, and HUGE flying field- you need to join SMAC! No cranks, no criticisms about your models or flying ability, and plenty of knowledgeable people to help.

Here are some photographs of the week's flying. Enjoy.

Oh shoot. One other thing.
We have a bunch of awesome shots of just a few models, because those members come out frequently and fly within photographic range. We would love to show off everyone's models! If you are a member and want to have your model shown here, you need to do the following:

1) Show up at the field on a day week meet up. That's Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning.
2) Fly lower than 200 feet altitude.
3) If you have a small model, don't fly 300 feet out from the runway.
4) Fly down the runway in the pattern at an altitude lower than 200 feet.

Thanks!

Inverted pass. Could it be...Dr. Balsa?

Okay. This is a common model, so let's be clear that this is Dave S. flying the Ranger. What an AWESOME BESTEST FOAMIE EVER!

Dr. Balsa flying an FMS Beaver.

Who could possibly be flying this model...

Jim R. has a fabulous clipped wing Cub that he built. I have LOTS of photos of this model looking 100%. It's a great model, and he flies it brilliantly.

And I have many, many more shots of this model flying. It runs well, and he certainly flies it well!

Bigfoot sighting! Donnie should be a rep for FMS, He shows not only how durable their models are, but also how agile they fly!

The rare sighting of the week! Jeff brings out his BEAUTIFUL kit-built Cub. The fabric covering is excellent.

Maiden flights can expose the unexpected. Dr. Balsa brought the plane down on a routine landing and the landing gear bent over, causing a nose-over. Seems that the model company didn't hardened their steel  parts!

Pop-up thunderstorms roll into the region.

Quick! Get another flight before the storm hits!
