More test flying
Tuesday May 12 brought seasonably warm temperatures to SMAC field, though it was a little windy (and a crosswind). First up was Jim R's indoor Bucker Jungmeister, which he wanted to wring out without having to worry about walls and a ceiling. The main takeaway was this plane needs bigger batteries; 3S 300mAh only gives three minutes of usable flight time.
Takeoff took about 10 feet and the model climbed with much less than full power. Rick completed his turn to downwind - then everyone saw the stabilizer fluttering!
Fortunately a power reduction killed the flutter, and Rick got the plane lined up for approach as gently as possible.
Rick is planning to add bracing struts under the stab, hopefully that will fix the problem.
