Barnstorming Carnival at Springfield Airport
This annual event is held each July at Springfield Municipal Airport. Full scale aircraft from the surrounding area fly in for static displays. Emphasis is on early and Golden Age aviation with a little bit of everything thrown in. Rides are available, also food trucks and a car show.
And models. Todd Powell of Fairborn Flying Aces organized both static and flying displays. In addition to a Giant Scale bipe flying 3-D maneuvers and a turbine jet, the Greater Cincinnati RC Club put on a 4-ship formation routine with their Stearmans which was a sight to see.
Some more of the ground displays:
The event is scheduled through Sunday July 13th but threatening weather had several planes leaving Saturday afternoon. Hopefully they will be back for the second day.
