A Fine July Evening

Several fliers took advantage of a break in the monsoon conditions to do some flying July 22.  Conditions were near perfect with clear skies, comfortable temperatures and near calm winds.

Good weather didn't keep the gremlins away.  Your editor Jim R's Arcus II glider decided to throw another prop blade just after a hand launch.  The sudden torque tore the motor out of the plane, but Jim stuck the nose down and made a soft landing.

Chad N. makes a precautionary landing with his CAP 232.  He had just gotten it trimmed up when everyone heard a funny noise and the plane shuddered.  Getting ready for a second flight Chad found one of his rudder servos had come loose!

Rick B. takes Rich I's Extra 300 off on its first flight.  Plane was "hunting" in pitch; Rich had gotten a little overenthusiastic with tail weight trying to get the CG back to the recommended location.  With 6 oz of weight removed from under the stab it handled much better.

Rich also flew his Stick and Kingfisher.

When he wasn't helping other fliers, Rick B. put on a show with his Hangar 9 P-47.
