A Blast from the Past!
'Way back in 1974, 14 year old me heard the local model airplane club was going to have a open house at their flying field. So he borrowed his brother's 35mm camera, bought a roll of Ektachrome slide film, and headed out for the north end of Grant Road, near its intersection with Moorefield Road. This was before the current field at C J Brown Reservoir had been cleared. I believe this was the first time I got to see R/C models in the air.
This year, 66 year old me bought a new camera, and thought it would be a good idea to try copying slides with it. The slides were processed in October 1974, so the event was probably held a month or two before that.
By today's standards the photo quality varies from terrible to awful, though to be fair the original camera didn't have a telephoto lens. If anyone can identify any of the people or planes, please add your comments or contact the club with the information.
Remember clothespin boards for frequency control?
There was a U-control circle as well as R/C!
