Dare I say...Facebook?
SMAC is expanding its social media presence to Facebook. Yes, you read correctly...we have finally capitulated to the unrelenting cultural pressure...sigh.
Here is the link to the Springfield Model Airplane Club's OFFICIAL Facebook page:
Be aware that there is another Facebook page that is titled "Springfield Model Airplane Club." It has a banner photo of a biplane from the Air Force museum. That page is an old, defunct post started by a club member; it is not affiliated with the club. Also- there is a Springfield RC Club in another state that posts to Facebook regularly, so make sure you link to the correct club!
What are we going to do with two social media sites? SMAC's website is going to remain the go-to site for information about the club and club happenings. Our website has over 40,000 views- and is far from being irrelevant.
Facebook is a convenient medium for connecting with hobbyists and clubs because the underlying algorithms promote posts. Day-to-day news and photos will be shared on our Facebook page, and it will serve as a portal to our website.
