Glue + Balsa + Plastic = FUN

Cold and windy days are here; time to create, build, and repair! Here are a few examples of projects SMAC members are working on:

Some repairs –

Dave S. had a landing gear hang up on his Top Flight giant scale Corsair this past Summer. He bellied it in without much damage, but it needed some time in the repair hangar before it was flight worthy. Nicely done, Dave!

New Builds –

Check out the P-39 Airacobra kit that Rick B. is building:

It's really Dave S.'s kit...(shhh, don't tell anyone). Look for progress photos to be posted over the coming weeks.

Look at all those pieces!

Kit Bashing Mods –

Remember the B-17 model pics from the past flying season? It looks great in the air, but how cool would it be if it was really a bomb-dropping B-17?

The Thingiverse 3-D printing file site has the plans for a working bomb rack designed specifically for the Hobbyking B-17 model. Club member Dan W. is a whiz with printing, and he volunteered to print the bomb rack and six simulated 500 pound bombs for Rob C.'s B-17 models. Some delicate cutting, carbon fiber spars, epoxy, a handful of servos, and some polystyrene sheeting = bomb dropping B-17!
