Pilots: Know the Field Limits
Safety is always the first priority when flying model aircraft. Part of being a safe, responsible pilot is being aware of the flying field limits. At SMAC Field, there are restrictions to flying at the western end of the field that every pilot needs to be aware of and follow:
Plan to make your turns to coincide with the western end of the runway. This assures that your aircraft will be safely within the limits of our flying field and away from Spense Road and our neighbors.
Pilots should avoid the area
between the runway end and the large tree, only using it as a buffer zone if
they overshoot the turn. Please do not use this area to set up your landing approach, as you can easily lose perspective of how close you are to Spense Road while making the final turn.
Flying near or beyond the large tree is strictly off-limits. The large tree is near Spence Road, and our neighbors to the West.
Never fly near or beyond the tree.
