FAA proposed rules will create unreasonable costs and burdens, effectively ending the hobby for many people.

If you are a SMAC member or a fellow hobbyist, the proposed rule changes affect YOU. It is vitally important that you learn about the proposed rule changes and submit your comments to the FAA before the MARCH 2nd deadline.

Templates and suggestions for comments are available on the AMA website, as well as a link to the FAA comment page:

AMA IN ACTION

From our AMA Region III Vice President, Mark Radcliff:

"I am sure you have been hearing and seeing information about the FAA's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on Remote ID for all Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). As written, the NPRM will impose significant costs and burdens on the model aviation community. Specifically, the Remote ID rule does not give AMA and its members enough flexibility and control over fixed flying sites, requires registration of individual UAS, and could limit flying at places without internet connectivity, among many other issues. It is important to point out that this is not the final rule, but we need your help to ensure that these concerns are addressed in the final regulation.

To help, I urge you to submit a formal comment to the FAA outlining your concerns with Remote ID, asking the FAA to address these issues."
